Hm, I haven't updated this in forever... Probably 'cause I'm too busy in my other account, *UtterPsychosis, so if I've neglected you, I will get back to you sometime soon, seriously.

Anyway... I've been noticing some odd stuff happening around my house lately and it's beginning to freak me out...

It all started a couple of days after this guy who used to live with us (he was my mom's boyfriend at one time, starting back before I was born, but over the years it became platonic, and he left in '06 to get married to a really weird woman 3 hours away) died. He'd been riddled with cancer and didn't find out about it until after he left and started getting sick.

Well, things got really bad, he had a stroke, started to recover, and then suddenly died.

I personally wasn't affected, since I've never liked him all that much.

Well, a couple days after he died, I was doing laundry and I noticed that the washing machine had suddenly started acting weird. Because of a counter-balance problem, it always stops and shuts off after each rinse cycle, so you have to turn the knob and turn it back on manually. Well, this time, I turned the knob and it kicked on by itself. That bothered me mainly because I didn't know why it started doing that out of nowhere. And it's continued every time I use the damn thing. I figured it was probably some weird problem with the mechanics of the machine, but last night it got weirder.

It stopped after the third rinse, and I figured 'okay, now I've got to turn it back on'. This time, I did have to turn it on manually, but after the barrel rotated twice, it stopped dead and the thing beeped that it was done, without even spinning. When I went to turn the dial back around to set it to spin again, it started up completely on it's own, after it had shut off.

Of course, a haunted washing machine sounds ridiculous, but there's more, otherwise I wouldn't be posting this.

The other night, I was on the computer inking a picture for my other account, and I had the TV volume low and the computer volume off. It was very early in the morning, around 2am or so (I'm normally up till at least 5am) and I was wide awake. I was just inking away, when all of a sudden, I became aware of a sound like two men having a conversation in the living room, which is to my right, whereas the TV is to my left. Our one cat, who's had a habit of walking around meowing for attention lately, had been over by the door within 20 minutes of the sound, though she'd fallen silent and I figured she went back out to the kitchen to warm up by the heater. Everything in the living room was turned off except a light, and the door was closed tightly, so even if there had been a sound from any of the electronics, I probably wouldn't have heard it. But I heard loud talking.

Frightened by that, I chose to ignore it, figuring it was just something my mind made up, and continued inking. But then I nearly had a heart attack a minute later, because I heard it again, followed by what sounded like heavy things being moved around. This really scared me, because I had no idea what it could be - I only knew nobody could be outside because I would have seen the floodlights come on. It continued on and off for a minute or two, and being scared, I just sat there, trying to ignore it and telling myself there couldn't be anything there. I was too afraid to even stand up and look through the glass panes of the door to see if anything was out there.

It finally stopped, and I went on with my picture, feeling very disturbed. About an hour after the whole thing, I got up, shut the computer off, and wandered cautiously out to the living room, to find everything just the way I left it hours earlier, the heater emitting a low hum as it turned on. So I went about turning on the TV and the fireplace (which is turned off because the thermostat is whacky), overly aware of this feeling that I was being watched, although the floodlights weren't on and nobody was outside. The feeling eventually subsided, and everything returned to normal, though I'm now afraid to be on the computer alone in the middle of the night.

Do you suppose there could be something going on?
